Who am I?

I’m Ellen Lang, an LA-based freelancer whose work history traverses the media landscape from print journalism to big-budget TV. My favorite formats include scripted comedy and story-driven journalism.

I am a…

Writer + producer.

As a development producer at Done+Dusted, I researched and wrote a diverse slate of specials and series pitched to clients like Disney, Netflix, NBC, and more. I focused especially on comedy and celebrity-driven formats, serving as the writers’ assistant on the 2024 Mark Twain Prize.

I’ve also worked as a ghostwriter for Very Legitimate Clients represented by WME I contractually can’t name. Spooky! My favorite “undercover assignment” was a non-fiction comic book script.

Journalist.

During my time at The Berliner I wrote about Berlin culture, the English-language community, and city news. Check out my feature article Kpop: Berlin’s hottest ticket? and read more of my bylines here.

Filmmaker.

My short films have appeared at festivals like Indie Memphis, CineKink, the Bush Film Series, and more. My even shorter films have garnered millions of views online. Click here to watch a selection of my work, and check out my social media to see the rest of it.

No but like… who am I?

Okay, first date facts: I’m from Northern California and grew up in a suburb of San Jose, San Francisco’s more populous and less sexy sister.

I attended Catholic school for 13 years and still love to confess my sins to strangers.

I studied film at the University of Texas at Austin and no, I didn’t take that class with Matthew McConaughey.

What can I do for you?

Looking for a research-driven producer to take your project to the next level?

A writer so adept at channelling your brand or client’s voice it’s ventriloquist-level scary?

An organized writers’ assistant for your room with supportive energy honed by a decade’s worth of attending friends’ improv shows?

Look no further. Hire me, and let this be the last self-aggrandizing Squarespace you ever read.
